Every year on September 27, we celebrate World Tourism Day—a day dedicated to one of the most important sectors that unites people, cultures, and experiences across the globe.
Tourism is not just about moving from one place to another. It is a bridge that connects people, creates friendships, shares culture, and supports the growth of local communities. Especially for Greece – and for us here in Fodele – tourism is a way of life and hospitality.
The theme of 2025
Each year, the United Nations and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) highlight a central message. In 2025, the focus is on innovation and sustainability in tourism. At a time when travelers seek authentic experiences but also respect for the environment, tourism is called to grow more responsibly and sustainably.
Our role in Fodele:
As a hotel, we are honored to welcome guests from all over the world and introduce them to Cretan hospitality, tradition, and the natural beauty of our region. At the same time, we support initiatives that promote:
- local community engagement through collaborations,
- environmental protection with sustainable practices,
- our cultural heritage, which inspires and connects us all.
A reason to celebrate together
World Tourism Day is a reminder that every journey is a story, every guest a friend, and every experience a memory that lasts forever.
To celebrate this day, you will find in your room two small gifts from the Cretan land:
Mountain tea, with its unique aroma and beneficial properties.
Oregano, a staple of every Cretan kitchen that adds flavor and fragrance to our cuisine.
A little taste of our homeland, so you can take a piece of Cretan hospitality with you.
Happy World Tourism Day!
